Artist Bio

First a drummer then a composer of electronic music, ModWaver is a French DJ who has lived in Paris, Germany, and Normandy. He has a multicultural and multi-generational influence, with an electro sound that is as current as it is revival.

ModWaver has been specializing in Synthwave/Retrowave/Synthpop since 2019, Electro-Pop, and more recently Tech-House.
He is also the Founder of Sonopacks, a web site selling virtual synthesizer presets.

A web designer, graphic designer, and photographer by profession, ModWaver creates his own visuals, photos, and clips.
He also sometimes collaborates with Yves Turmel of the Normandy Live Club for vocals, guitar solos, and live mixing.
ModWaver offers danceable and energetic but also soaring and bewitching music. With nostalgic melodies, synthetic technicality, and animal energy, ModWaver’s music is tuned and live with the emotion of an indoor garden.

Tout d’abord batteur puis compositeur de musique électronique et DJ français ayant vécu à Paris, en Allemagne et en Normandie, ModWaver a une influence multiculturelle et multi-générationnelle, avec une électro aux sonorités tout autant actuelles que revival.

Spécialisé depuis 2019 dans la Synthwave/Retrowave/Synthpop et l’Electro-Pop puis plus récemment la Tech-House. Fondateur de Sonopacks : site de vente de préréglages de synthétiseurs virtuels. Webdesigner/infographiste/photographe de métier, il crée lui-même ses visuels, photos et clips. Il collabore également parfois avec Yves Turmel du Normandy Live Club pour le chant, solos de guitare et mix live. ModWaver propose dans ses créations une musique dansante, énergique mais aussi planante et envoûtante. Avec des mélodies nostalgiques, de la technicité synthétique et une énergie animale, la musique de ModWaver est à l’écoute et en live une émotion de jardin intérieur.

From instrumentals to collabs with talented vocalists, there is no limit to what ModWaver can do with his artful arrangements in sonic architecture. This feels like the kind of music you might discover on summer vacation at a night club in France. The urgency of the synths on “Real Sensations” contrast nicely against the smooth delivery of the various vocals in the song. In the song “Alphajet”, we are instantly transported to another planet where the dress code is retro chic; the people are part alien, part human; the drinks are interstellar; and the night is neverending.

Des instrumentaux aux collaborations avec des chanteurs talentueux, il n’y a pas de limite à ce que ModWaver peut faire avec ses arrangements astucieux dans l’architecture sonore. Cela ressemble au genre de musique que vous pourriez découvrir pendant les vacances d’été dans une boîte de nuit en France. L’urgence des synthés sur “Real Sensations” contraste joliment avec la douceur des différentes voix de la chanson. Dans la chanson “Alphajet”, on est instantanément transporté sur une autre planète où le dress code est rétro chic; les gens sont en partie extraterrestre, en partie humain; les boissons sont interstellaires; et la nuit est interminable.

What challenges have you faced as an Artist?

“Staying active on social networks, streaming…and finding time to compose is a challenge when you have another job on the side.”

“Distributing your music is also very complicated. But the biggest challenge is to find the right configuration to play your music live because live there is no room for error.”

“Rester actif sur les réseaux, streaming… et trouver du temps pour composer est un défi lorsqu’on a un autre métier à côté.”

“Distribuer sa musique est aussi très compliqué. Mais le plus grand défi est de trouver la bonne configuration pour jouer sa musique en live car en live on a pas le droit à l’erreur.”

What are your future goals with your music?

“Make new songs, rather oriented Tech-House, Progressive-House or Electro-Pop in order to release a new EP or LP. If possible, make a real clip with extras.”

“Faire de nouveaux morceaux, plutôt orientés Tech-House, Progressive-House ou Electro-Pop afin de sortir un nouvel EP ou LP. Faire si possible un vrai clip avec des figurants.”

What projects are you working on now?

“I will be performing at the Glos Angeles bar near Lisieux on September 2, 2022 for a Tech-House, Progressive-House, Nu-Disco mix.”

“I will be entertaining with a special Country/Rock’N’Roll mix at the Américaines de Moyaux on August 27th.
I will surely play a chill/retrowave/nu-disco mix in September for the annual closing of a beach bar in Houlgate, Normandy.”

“I will also be playing a mixture of Electro and the 80s regularly at the Krake’n Co bar in Lisieux.”

“Je serai en concert au bar Glos Angeles près de Lisieux ce 2 septembre 2022 pour un mix Tech-House, Progressive-House, Nu-Disco.”

“Je serai en animation avec un mix spécial country/rock’n’roll aux voitures Américaines de Moyaux le 27 août.
Je jouerai sûrement en septembre un mix Chill/Retrowave/Nu-Disco pour la fermeture annuelle d’un bar de plage à Houlgate, en Normandie.”

“Je devrai rejouer régulièrement au bar Krake’n Co à Lisieux un mélange d’electro et années 80.”
