Wemfer

Wemfer
Artist Bio
Wemfer is a Southern New Mexican Artist from Las Cruces, New Mexico. Starting out in 1993 as a Graffiti artist, he has evolved his work into that of a full time contemporary muralist with an abstract flare.
Creating murals and projects that give back to the community is important to this New Mexican. Helping to support and inspire youth artists through his work is a big part of what Wemfer is all about.
I first met Wemfer at an ABQ Artwalk in Albuquerque, NM. He was doing a live painting performance as part of the Artwalk alongside other local fan favorite and muralist, Benz (@ABQBenz). Fast forward a couple of years and I see more and more of Wemfer’s colorful murals as continue to pop up in unexpected places all over Downtown Albuquerque and beyond.
This Spring Wemfer celebrated an opening of his artwork in the “Humble Beginnings”, his first solo art show held at the Nopalitos Galeria in his hometown of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Some things may change, but Wemfer’s commitment to his craft remains. Stay tuned for more from this Artist as he spreads his inspirational vibes far and wide with his distinct visual style.
What does Hip Hop mean to you?
“Hip Hop for me is a life style…You have to have style–in how you dress, how you write, how you dance, how you speak, how you live. It’s a religion to us that grew up in the Golden Era. If its 50 years now or 50 years later we lived a life of style. They will remember the name!”

A Message from the Artist
“Art pulls a community together…that’s what Artists are doing all the time, shifting the way you look at something.”
